Watercolor happy birthday

Day 2 of Clean and Simple II online class was all about one layer cards. The technique that really caught my eye was using colored pencils and watercolor brush.

In class they use a brand I don't have so I tried using crayons - and it doesn't work! so I tried the technique with distress inks and loved the effect so much I made two cards.

With the first one I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder.

 

 and with this one, I used the Ranger Archival Jet Black ink.

I really like the clean and simple look and how colorful they turned out.
